After it’s second consecutive loss this season, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tavaris Jackson was booed, according to an article in the pioneer press.
It remains to be seen exactly how well Tarvaris Jackson will handle the fact he was booed at home Sunday. Jackson said after the Vikings’ 18-15 loss to Indianapolis that he understands the frustration and wants to give people a reason to cheer. Vikings wide receiver Bobby Wade said boos can bother a young player. “I’ve been booed before in stadiums,” Wade said. “Nobody likes to be booed at all. You’ve got to remember, he’s probably one of the main ones that has to (deal with) it. You’ve got to have really thick skin playing quarterback. Wins and losses always fall on you like they fall on the head coach, even though there’s a lot of things that go into what exactly happened. “After watching the film, I’m sure he has a better perspective on himself. That’s the only reality. It doesn’t matter what people are thinking or how they’re reacting, booing or whatever. The reality is how he played and how he can get better, and how we can do it as a team.” Dealing with the wrath of unhappy fans is part of being a professional athlete. Don’t believe it when athletes say they don’t hear the crowd booing during a game, that they’re too focused. [Pioneer Press]
Juice: Please don’t pull a ‘Vince Young’, Tavaris. We love you and the fans love you, too. You’re just not….how can we put this lightly. [long pause] You’re not a “good” passing quarterback at this level. You don’t suck or anything. You’re a pro football player, dude. That’s a huge success in itself. Hope you’re doing good. Don’t go here [see below]
