Remember Ahman Green? He used to play for the Green Bay Packers. Great running back back then. The Packers traded him to the Texans when he lost all ability, not a day sooner. Since then, he’s been making a base salary of $3.8 million. WTF! So, the Texan Brass decided to rethink “things”.
Running back Ahman Green agreed Wednesday to restructure the 2008 portion of his four-year contract, reducing his base salary from $3.8 million to $1.8 million. The deal frees up $2 million in salary cap money for the Texans. Green, who hasn’t played since suffering a groin injury on the first play of preseason against Denver, is expected to start the first regular-season game at Pittsburgh. [Houston Chronicle]
Juice: This guy hasn’t made SportsCenter since 2001. Why do teams insist on paying players for what they did 5 years ago? That’s kind of like drafting a guy because you really think his jersey is bad ass. Solution: Smaller salaries with huge commission bonuses AFTER the season-if the player performs/plays/ and doesn’t pistol whip hoes.
PS- Nice Bat Book, bro. Less comic time, more skull crushing on the field.
