Mel Kiper

Sporting News writer Mike Florio recently published an article on which teams he expects  to miss the playoffs.  We checked his work.  We don’t work for ESPN or another major publication and don’t claim to be experts, but this list is so unoriginal that we suspect Mike was probably a ’super duper ‘ journalism major who started watching football in college with his “straight friends”  to appear less fem.  Dude, this is the reason why credibility is the least relevant word that should ever be used in evaluating NFL football.  Why?

Because there is not an “NFL Expert Analyst” more qualified to predict the upcoming NFL season than any above average fantasy football geek.  This topic is not for discussion.  Go back and count how many experts picked the Giants to suck, Packers to suck, Buccaneers to suck, and the Bengals to jam last season. The NFL Network spent 3 days debating who would finish higher in the AFC North:   Bengals, Ravens, or Browns-  concluding that the Browns definitely would be suckiest.

Furthermore,  let us remind you that Kiper himself claimed that Ryan Leaf’s attitude would be an asset in the NFL and a mental advantage over Peyton Manning.  He also claimed that the Colts selection of Marshall Faulk was terrible and they should have taken Trent Dilfer.

And now the list of teams that will not make the playoffs:

1.  New York Jets

2. Cleveland Browns

3.  Kansas City Chiefs

4.  Detroit Lions

5.  Arizona Cardinals

6.  Carolina Panthers
