Apparently Lovie Dovie Smith needs another year to decide if he likes Kyle Orton better than Rex Grossman. The Bears agreed to terms on a one-year extension with quarterback Kyle Orton Monday. The deal extends Orton’s contract through the 2009 season.
Orton’s career numbers:
233 of 448 passing attempts for 2,347 yards, 12 touchdowns and 15 interceptions for a 62.2 passer rating.

Signing both Rex and Orton was a boner move by Lovie Dovie. This just further extends the ‘lack of leadership signal’ to the team. Plus, we think Orton proved himself in the last 3 games of last season. Kyle needs a coach and team that believe in him, not Rex/Lovie drama and doubt.
Now, we’re pissed.

I think if it is an equal chance in traing camp, Kyle can beat out rex. Rex is terrible.

orton looked much more confident in the last 3 games and had better stats then rex grassman. he went 2-1 and had the windy city winter weather to deal with compared to grossmans ideal weather which he still failed miserably. Ortons stats his rookie year were miserable but he was a 21yr. old that had no business starting. I think the bears should let orton take control where he left off last year and give him a shot of being a starting qb in the league.
